Tips for Making Father's Day Cards for a Grandson

Giving a homemade Father's Day card could be a nice personal touch to celebrating Father's Day, as well as for a grandson, there are various kinds of Father's Day cards to create. Many grandsons have two grandfathers, one on mom's side from the family and one on dad's, however, many grandsons have only one grandfather while some have more than two. Giving grandpa a Father's Day card shows respect and love for him, not just like a grandfather but as a father too.

Make Each Card Unique

Think about the person the card is for. A Father's Day card for Grandpa, for instance, will present a different message than the usual Father's Day card for Dad. Design the credit card to show something you share in normal with the person the card is for. For instance, if you go on fishing trips with Grandpa every summer, maybe design Grandpa's Father's Day card to exhibit this common bond. Personalize the content to the recipient, such as changing "Father's Day" into "Grand-Father's Day" for the Grandpa's Father's Day card.

Use School Photographs

Each year kids have school photos taken. These may be a great addition to Father's Day cards, specifically for a grandfather who might not get to see his grandson often. There's a couple of options for attaching a photograph to a homemade card. You should use the corner brackets which are found with scrapbook supplies to mount the photo towards the card; slip a corner bracket over each corner from the photo, carefully holding them in position then press the sticky side into position in the card. This enables the photo to be removed for framing or carrying inside a wallet. You can use acid-free scrapbook tape to connect to photo to the card too, or simply put a dab from the glue stick or rubber cement around the back and press into position.

As an alternative, you can use a photo of grandson and grandfather together, if school photos aren't an option or if there is a particular favorite photo that might be nicer for the card.

Say More having a Personal Message

Consider stuff you share with the person you will provide the Father's Day card to, in addition to how you feel about them and how important they're to you. For a grandson, there might be several different cards to write such as one for Dad, one for Grandpa on Dad's side from the family and one for Grandpa on Mom's side from the family, among others. Make the message in every card different, to show how each individual you give a card do is special and various from each other. For example, perhaps Mom's father likes barbecues and sports but Dad's father likes fishing and camping; result in the designs and the messages from the cards specific for each person. Write the content down on a separate paper for practice, then write it neatly on the separate piece of paper and work out then paste in to the card.

Non-Traditional Families

For grandsons in non-traditional families, Father's Day could be tricky. Father's Day greeting cards might have to go to grandpa on mom's side from the family, grandpa on dad's side from the family, a step-grandfather if one or both mom and dad remarried and so forth. A Father's Day card for any step-grandfather can help make him feel like an essential member of the new family unit. You need to remember non-traditional families are normal too and you may give a Father's Day card to anyone you would like. Design the card to show something or some shared interest using the recipient and write a customized message telling them they are equally important.
